That is an interesting questions Ryan. The problem for me is that, if we disregarded the style or quality of music, we would never have a progression in "Christian Music." Churches have been arguing style long before modern worship was introduced to mainstream Western church.

Both questions should be asked concurrently. I can not sing my way out of a paper bag, but I would defy anyone to say that when I am prayed up and worded up, signing to my Lord that is it is not pleasing to God. Though you would not want my leading worship.

Aaron speaks of being a multi-generational church, but along with that we are a multicultural church. Where do you draw the line at meeting the wants, yes I said wants, of a particular group of people. I would say that this area requires a lot of prayer for specific bodies and great leadership to discern the direction of the bodies. Within that same thought I think that the leadership needs to be gracious to those that may not find the change as appealing. I can think of several examples in years past when the music style has changed in our bodies and it was not always a very welcome change, I would trust it was primarily glorifying to God.

Just a thought from brotha that loves the Lord!

Too many times people are asking the wrong question. Usually the question is, "Do I like the music at church?". But that is not the right question to be asking. The right question to ask is, "Does God like the music at church?".

What I think about the music should be irrelevant if it brings glory to God. Sorry for the mini-rant. :-)
