Church Music
I could go on a rant about what petty crap it is that people will leave a church that is feeding them in every other way simply because they start making changes to their music program…but I won’t. In time, the sad truth is that the problem will take care of itself. It won’t be much longer until many of those same churches that are full of old white people simply die out because they were no longer relevant across multi-generational lines. What, you don’t think that God doesn’t close churches that have gone to seed and are no longer effective? Think again. I have talked before about being relatable without making everything relative. The gospel should never, ever be watered or “dumbed” down. But if someone if giving glory to God through music, then you should be giving glory right alongside them.
A friend of mine at Avant Ministries posted up a link to this video and I thought the message was great! I think I have all of like 4 rap albums in my music collections, although I do admit that that I had a thing for N.W.A. back in the day and still can’t believe that Eazy-E has been gone for almost 15 years now, but I’m digressing VERY badly. Anyway, this is not my preferred genre day in and day out, but especially after doing some prison ministry, I can absolutely see how this group could be used effectively in witnessing to some folks. They’re actually pretty good! The band is called Reality Check. I checked iTunes and they’re not there yet, but I bet they will be soon. Take a listen.
Philippians 3:13-14 – Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
